Also shown are four images of Grell standing at his easel in Tree Studios, Chicago, IL while applying some finishing touches to Dionysus (Roman Bacchus) and Ariadne. The Artist, Neptune and an unknown painting can be seen in the background. Bacchus is believed to be part of the ‘lifetime series of ten’ important large mythological paintings by Grell. A standing Bacchus large mural can be seen inside the Chicago Theatre (1933) today. A Bacchus & panther scene was incorporated into the lobby ceiling at the Gateway Theatre (Chicago 1930).
The Cincinnati Enquirer, August 31, 1935 page 2, Fountain Bar, Fountain Square Hotel, Cincinnati announces the grand unveiling festivities held at the hotel. The mural is held in a private collection, rolled up and in need of conservation work.
